Grand pianos are widely thought of as the most desirable type of piano due to several things. The grand piano has a much larger soundboards and longer strings than other pianos which give them a richer, more resonent tone. The keys on a grand piano are also usualy more responsive than other pianos
Upright pianos are special primarily for their space-efficient vertical design, making them ideal for homes and smaller rooms. Upright pianos also tend to be more affordable dispite their sound which is still very nice, but not as rich and resonent as a grand. Upright pianos are also a lot lighter compared to a grand.
